Why ROMS was built in the field, not in a boardroom
The story behind purpose-built operations software for Australian mining — shaped by engineers and operators who have lived the same site challenges.
ROMS did not start as a product pitch. It started as a response to problems our team had faced personally — patchy coverage in the pit, paper pre-starts that blew away in the wind, and management systems that looked polished in a demo but failed at 4 am on a haul road.
Built by people who have been on site
When the people building the software have stood in the pit, the product stops being IT and starts being part of how the site runs. Every feature in ROMS exists because someone on site asked for it, struggled without it, or lost time to a workaround.
Offline-first is not optional
Australian mining and earthworks operate in places where the network is unreliable at best. ROMS Smart Mines runs fully offline — jobs, pre-starts, hazard reports, and defect logs are captured locally and sync when connectivity returns. Work never stops waiting for signal.
Data stays in Australia
Operational data in mining is sensitive. SACSA provides continuous cyber security oversight, and our cloud infrastructure is designed so sensitive mine and earthworks information stays onshore — in the Australian region, under Australian control.
